Choose a specific game
Poker is a family of games, not a single ruleset. Begin with one variant and use a tutorial written for it. Do not apply a guide for one format to a different table without checking the rules.
Understand the vocabulary
Learn the words used in your version: deal, round, hand, fold and showdown are common examples. Ask what a control means before using it in an app.
Study hand comparisons
Use a ranking reference for the chosen variant. Practise comparing sample hands and checking how ties are resolved. Some formats use different hand-selection requirements or ranking rules.
Learn the flow
Follow a demonstration from the initial deal to the end of a hand. Notice when you may act and how the app indicates the next player. A slow practice session is useful before a timed room.
Keep expectations realistic
Learning helps you understand decisions, but it does not guarantee a result. Use practice play to get familiar with the interface and rules. This website is an independent guide, not a poker operator.
